Joe Griffin: “creative momentum”

I recently used the Whoosh Library to sweeten a tween-pop mix and to “punch up” a fight scene between a mystic warrior and a huge demon made of stone…with its variety of cool sounds, the Whoosh Library was exactly what I needed to keep my creative momentum and make both projects sound great.

joe_blurJoe has worked as a recording engineer since 1990. In that time, he has created radio and television commercials for several major advertising agencies, including thirteen years as head recording engineer for Ogilvy & Mather Chicago.

His experience also extends to industrial audio and video, music recording, sound design, sound restoration and forensic audio treatment. A musician since age six, oe also composes music for theatre and film and is one half of the Austin/Chicago experimental music project Donny Who Loved Bowling.

Todd Kinsley: “What a joy”

I recently had the pleasure of discovering “The Whoosh Anthology”. To the uninitiated, a whoosh library might seem like an odd idea. To those of us knee-deep in the game audio world, a whoosh library makes perfect sense. I can’t begin to count the number of whooshes (and whoosh-like) sounds I’ve had to create for games.

What a joy it was to be working on a game, under a deadline, and have this library at my disposal! While working on my latest slot machine game, I used whooshes from the Whoosh Library’s “Fire” category, which just happened to match the theme of the current game. I also utilized a whoosh from the “Musical” category, when seeking a high-pitched whoosh.

I have reviewed the rest of the library as well, and find it to be a thorough set of useful whoosh sounds that require little (if any) editing or enhancement. If you find yourself in need of a whoosh, The Whoosh Anthology will have you covered.

In addition to his work in slot gaming, Todd has created complete audio content for several shipped PC games on a freelance basis (most notably the “Delaware St. John” adventure game trilogy for Big Time Games/Lighthouse Interactive).

Prior to entering the game audio world, Todd was a Sound Designer and/or Sound Tech for live theatre and cruise ships.

David Bateman: “you always need [it]“

The Whoosh Anthology is one of those sound sets you always need but don’t always know where to find. In TV and film composing, many times I’ve needed a whoosh type of sound to end an act or add a bit more of a dynamic flair to a cue. Searching for sounds like this through you’re sample libraries can be tedious and when you’re in a hurry, a total pain in the creative membrane.

This group of audio wave files is well thought out and very creative. There are 18 folders containing many useful sounds mostly panned from left to right. The cymbal effects alone are great for a lot of different situations. There are animal, cars and underwater sounds all processed very well into whoosh effects. Overall, a really useful group of audio files that I will be using a lot this coming TV season.
